Church Closing Policy

It is the policy of St. James Lutheran Church to always be open for scheduled worship services, with the pastor, lay minister or elder(s) conducting the liturgy, or absent the above, other church member(s) leading prayers and songs.

It is conceivable that conditions may necessitate the cancellation of scheduled worship services or other activities; such conditions begin, but not limited to, weather conditions of such as to prevent safe passage of the roads, an authority mandated prohibition of the roads, interruption of church electric, water or sanitary services that may result in health and safety issues.

A committee consisting of the Pastor, the President of the Congregation or his representative, the Head Elder or his representative and the Head Trustee or his representative will make the decision to cancel services or activities. The local TV stations will be asked to announce the closings.
